After a fun-filled fall season of football and cheer, the Westford Jr. Ghosts have started looking ahead to next fall’s excitement with Open House meetings for all interested parents.
The goal of these sessions is to help parents understand the significant changes made in both the football and cheer programs over the past several years to help ensure safety and to promote teamwork, academics and character development.
Westford’s Pop Warner programs are well-respected for adhering to the “everybody plays” principles established by the national organization. There are no tryouts or cutting of players, and Pop Warner remains the only national youth sports organization that requires participants to perform in the classroom before they’re permitted to play or cheer.
This season also marks a change in cheer, with a renewed focus on fun and participation. The cheerleading program hopes to continue the tradition of success that resulted in several national championships in recent years.
