Construction of the intersection at Oak Hill and Groton Roads is about to begin.
The improvements include a traffic signal, sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes and upgrades to the drainage system.
Plans are available online for download or viewing at:
westfordma.gov/engineering.
Commuters and businesses should expect delays and occasional detours during the estimated seven months of construction.
Route 40 (Groton Road) is also scheduled to be closed to
through traffic for a five-day period later this summer so that the existing Gilson Brook culvert can be replaced near the Ace Hardware plaza.
The road closure will begin on a Friday night and reopen as soon as the culvert replacement is complete. Additional information about the closure and detours will be made available on the town’s electronic notification
system.
