HYBRID MODEL
The School Committee, on Aug. 10, voted 4 to 3 to follow Superintendent Bill Olsen’s recommendation and use the hybrid model of learning this fall for the town’s students — it was a thoughtful response to the dangers of COVID — 19, a pandemic virus that has required new approaches to educating students while trying to keep them out of harm’s way. Those who voted in favor of the recommendation were Gloria Miller, Chris Sanders, Avery Adam, and Sean Kelly. The remaining three, Alicia Mallon, Valery Young, and Mingquan Zheng abstained.

Mingquan Zheng, School Committee
“The data is the only thing that should drive our decisions. We are starting from somewhere, but we don’t know if your analysis is correct.” (Explaining his reason for abstaining on the vote.) — MINGQUAN ZHENG
